12-Pack Purple Solar Halloween Lights

I wanted something that was more akin to the Christmas lights we had when I was a child, so I chose these. They’re great! We had our tree turned on for a minimum of four hours every single day from November 1 to December 26 and they’re all still working beautifully. I’ve already ordered more for next year. Definitely recommend!!

I'll talk about the sound of the whistle first, and I will say that the whistle is both louder and better sounding / more realistic in person than it is in the video. At the time when I ordered this there were no videos of the whistle so you could actually hear what it sounded like but there were a few reviews that said it actually sounded like a woman screaming. So I took their word for it but when I first got the whistle I was pretty disappointed with the sound. In my opinion just blowing through it makes just a plain whistle sound. Loud, but not scary and not really sounding like a scream at all. From using various other whistles and calls I know how much the sound can change based on how you operate them so I took some time trying to get a more realistic scream sound out of it. For me I found that if you take a deep breath and blow through the whistle as hard as you can while also cupping the bottom of the whistle, you can actually get a surprisingly good shrieking / blood curdling scream sound of it like from an old horror movie. The position of your off hand at the bottom greatly changes the sound into a much higher pitch so that will just take some practice to get it to sound the way you like.

Aside from the reviews talking about the sound of the whistle, the main thing that drew me to it was the looks of the design itself. I love Halloween and spooky, horror type items so this looks really cool to me. The design itself of the skull and headdress was really well done. The overall quality of the clay and glaze however I would rate as mediocre. The whistle I received is filled with air bubbles. Thankfully the worst of it is to the back side of the whistle. Where the sections of the stem are joined to the body doesn't look good either and where the base of the stem meets the body on the top side there is a crack. Not all the way through but maybe at some time it will become a weak spot, I don't know.

The whistle comes in a white box with a picture of the whistle on the lid and a form fit section of foam in the base to keep the whistle secure, and another strip of foam to cover from the top side. So I would say the factory packaging was well done to protect the whistle.

I love-love-LOVE these solar torches. They very-much look like flickering flames. I’ve gotten numerous compliments since putting them out, and one neighbor told me she actually thought I had torches lit!
The only drawback is the instructions don’t completely match the product. Insert shows there to be a switch on the exterior, which I was unable to locate after way-too-much examination. I thought perhaps they’d done away with it and put the torches outside. After 2 days in the searing Texas sun and zero illumination after dark, I grabbed a torch, brought it inside and set to disassembling.
Turns out the switch exists. And it’s SUPER easy to get to. The solar top removes from the decorative base with a slight twist. On the lip of the underside of the solar panel it a teeny weenie Off/On switch. I opened each torch, flipped all the switches, put them back together & put them outside, and had beautiful flickering torches that very evening.
These solar torches are absolutely beautiful. I will be using them year round.
(P.S. In case anyone noticed the plastic protector still intact on the solar panel, it’s because our pecan trees are weeping for the very first time since we’ve lived in this house for the past 7 years. These torches are waterproof, but the “sap” has caused issues on our security camera lenses, and I’m just trying to work smarter, not harder.)
